Competing on manual labour costs limited this customer’s variety-pack bids. CAM designed two automated lines with four interchangeable feeding and counting systems, so they could weigh, count and take on a broader range of variety-pack work.

  • The Challenge

Our customer was producing variety packs without automated equipment, meaning they were competing for business primarily on manual labour costs. This limited their ability to submit competitive bids and take on larger or more complex variety-pack opportunities.

  • What CAM Did

CAM designed a flexible, automated variety-pack solution built around two production lines. Four feeding and counting systems could be interchanged between the two lines, allowing them to configure production around different customer requirements.

The solution was designed to accommodate a wide range of products and variety-pack formats for grocery, superstore and bulk retail applications.

  • The Result

Our customer gained the ability to automate the complete variety-pack process rather than relying on manual labour.

The flexible system allowed the same equipment to support changing customer requirements, while giving them the ability to both weigh and count products within the same facility.

The result was a production platform designed to handle a broader range of variety-pack opportunities while giving them greater flexibility as customer requirements changed.
